Adopt-A-Trail Segment
Help us turn summer dirt work into winter corduroy!
September–October 2026 | GPRA
An incredible crew of volunteers spent much of the summer building new trails and connections at GPRA (Government Peak Recreation Area). Hundreds of volunteer hours, generous donors and sponsors, and amazing in-kind support helped bring these projects to life. Click here 👉 to learn more about the GPRA Summer Trail Expansion Project.
Now we’re down to the fun part — the finishing touches! And this is where YOU come in.
Before the snow flies, we’re inviting families, friends, teams, and individuals to adopt a trail segment and help get our new trails ready for their first winter.
The work is simple, but it makes a big difference.
🌿 Clip exposed roots below ground level
🪨 Toss rocks bigger than a baseball off the trail
🍂 Rake and smooth the trail surface
🌲 Clean up sticks and debris along the corridor
Choose an available section and tackle it on your own schedule throughout September and into early October. Give an hour, spend an afternoon, bring the family, or round up a group of friends — every little bit helps!
We’ve divided the trails into numbered segments so they’re easy to find. Use the trail map and sign-up sheet to choose your section, see where others are working, and watch our progress as the community works its way across the trails.
Our goal is to finish as much as we can throughout September, then come together on October 10 for Trails Day to tackle anything that remains.
These trails were built by our community, and now we get to put the finishing touches on them together. Many hands make light work — and every rock tossed and root clipped gets us one step closer to that first ribbon of winter corduroy! ❄️
How It Works:
1) Check out the trail map 👇
See the ten trail segments that need some love @GPRA.
2) Choose a trail segment(s) to adopt.
Segments are numbered by area/location on the map. Find the section you'd like to work on, then sign up below with your name, family, or group.👇
3) *Super important - Please complete the required MSB Volunteer Waiver
before heading out. Children under 18 should be included on a parent or guardian's waiver. 👇
4) Grab your gloves and tools and head to your trail segment when it’s convenient for you throughout the month of September!
🌿 Clip exposed roots below ground level
🪨 Toss rocks bigger than a baseball off the trail
🍂 Rake and smooth the trail surface if time allowsWhat to bring: Sturdy footwear, gloves, water, loppers (able to cut up to a 1" root), and a sturdy rake and/or shovel. Bug spray and weather protection are always a good idea, too!
A bucket can be handy for moving rocks and sticks — and don’t forget your phone for a photo of your hard-working trail crew! 📸
Work at your own pace, have some fun, and leave your little piece of the trail better than you found it!
5) Let us know how it went!
Send us a quick follow-up email to info@matsuski.org with
your group information
the names of the people who volunteered and the amount of time they contributed. That way we can track your time and, most importantly, thank you properly.
Send us your photos! We’d love to see you, your family, or your crew out on the trails and share the progress our community is making together.
