🍂 October means Junior Nordics Registration is almost here!

We’re kicking off the season with a special edition newsletter, packed with everything you need to know about this awesome program.

Whether you’re a returning Junior Nordic family, joining us for the first time, or looking for ways to get involved, you’ll find everything you need here. Keep reading for important dates, registration details, and plenty of ways to be part of the Junior Nordics fun!

Little Skis, Big Fun!

Ready to get your kids outside and loving winter? Junior Nordics welcomes skiers ages 5–16 of all abilities for a season filled with fun, fitness, new skills, and plenty of time on snow with friends.

We've been busy updating our Junior Nordics webpage with everything families need to know before registration - from schedules and skier groups to equipment, rentals, volunteering, FAQs, and what to expect during the season.

Monday/Wednesday: 1:30-2:30
Monday/Wednesday: 5:30-6:30
Tuesday/Thursday: 5:30-6:30

Sessions Begin January 11th & 12th and End March 3rd & 4th

Returning Participant Registration opens October 10th at 10 a.m.
New Family Registration opens October 13th at 10 a.m.

A current MSSC Family Membership is required to access registration and participate in this program, so don't wait until registration morning to become a member. Get that piece taken care of now and you'll be ready to go!

When registration opens, head to your Family Membership Dashboard to get your spot.
After you register, you will receive an email receipt, this confirms your place in Junior Nordics

We Need Coaches, Too!

Junior Nordics wouldn't happen without our amazing volunteer coaches, and we're looking for more people to join the fun this winter!

You don't have to be an expert skier to make a difference. Coaching is a great way to ski alongside our kids, share what you know, meet other families, and become part of an incredibly fun community. Benefits include admiration from your skiers, new friends, gifts of appreciation, an MSB parking pass, lots of fresh air, and some pretty great winter memories. 💙 If you’re interested in coaching this season fill out the application through the link below. All About Rental Gear!

Ski and ski pole rental ($100/set) is available from the Mat-Su Ski Club, and ski boot rentals ($40/pair) are available through Backcountry Bike and Ski.

Rented skis, poles, and boots can be picked up at GPRA on November 7th and may be kept until April.

You can reserve your rental skis and poles at the same time that you register online. You’ll get pickup details at checkout and in your email receipt. Boots cannot be reserved ahead of time but are available at the Gear Pick-up event on a first-come, first-served basis.

Deposit fees ($150/set) are due at pickup. To ensure equipment return, a deposit of a check or credit card number is required. You’ll only be charged if the skis aren’t returned or if they are returned broken. Your personal information will be shredded after return.

Ski pick-up takes place outside regardless of the weather. Bring your child for proper sizing.

Boot fittings and rentals are available for $40 from Backcountry Bike & Ski at the Gear Pick-up event at a GPRA. Pay with Credit card or bring exact change if using cash.

Equipment availability isn’t guaranteed to all registrants. It’s distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rental Equipment is only available to JN participants, not parents.

New Family Orientation

During ski pick-up we will have New Family Orientation. This will be an open house style time to ask all of your questions. More details coming soon!

Designed for children of all ages and abilities, Trick or Treat Trails offers a safe, inclusive Halloween experience away from busy roadways, with fun prizes and allergen-friendly treats available throughout the event.

Every ticket purchase helps support the Mat-Su Ski Club's year-round trail stewardship and community recreation programs, ensuring GPRA remains a welcoming place for families to ski, hike, bike, walk, and gather for community events throughout the year.

Grab your costume, bring your bucket, and help us celebrate Halloween while supporting the trails that bring our community together!
