Updates on the New Nordic Center

posted Oct 19, 2011 11:11 AM by Dave Musgrave

MSSC put in a lot of effort on clearing trails and working with the Borough to get the New Nordic Trails in place. Unfortunately, we have had some set backs that prevent us from opening the trails this winter.

The contract for the access road was not approved until October 18 and we have applied to the Corps of Engineers for permits for culverts (less costly) instead of bridges over the streams.

Mayor DeVilbiss, Assemblyman Jim Colver, Borough Manager John Moosey, and several other Borough staff joined Ed Strabel and Dave Musgrave for a tour of the trails in late September. Evidently they were suitably impressed as the Assembly and Mayor passed the resolution permitting construction of the access road.

Borough staff has indicated that the contract for the access road will be awarded sometime this fall.

The permitting for the culverts should be approved by the Corps sometime this fall/winter.
